What is a TIG Finger used for?
A TIG finger is a welding accessory that is used to protect the welder’s hand from the heat of the welding arc during Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding. TIG welding produces a very concentrated and intense arc that can generate temperatures of up to 10,000°F. This extreme heat can cause severe burns or injury to the welder’s fingers, especially when working in tight spaces or on small pieces.
The TIG finger is a heat-resistant sleeve made of high-quality materials such as silicone, leather, or fiberglass. It slips over the welder’s finger, providing a protective barrier between the finger and the heat of the welding arc. This allows the welder to get closer to the weld area and maintain better control of the TIG torch.
Using a TIG finger can make TIG welding safer and more comfortable for the welder, allowing them to work more efficiently and effectively. It can also help prevent accidents and injuries, such as burns and cuts, which can lead to lost time and productivity. Additionally, it can reduce the likelihood of fatigue, which can lead to errors and mistakes in welding
Using a TIG Finger will allow the welder to rest their pinkie/ring-finger without getting burnt on hot metal. This means the welder can improve their stability while welding. leading to a neat & tidy finish.
