Why do we use a back cap?

The back cap applies pressure to the back of the collet to keep it in place against the collet body or gas lens.  Whilst keeping the tungsten firmly in place, the back cap also serves to seal the torch head from the atmosphere.

Easily changeable the back cap screws onto the back of the torch.
